Spam bots, by passing Human Answer on registration

Any idea how spam bots are bypassing or getting passed the human question on sign up?

i can't figure out how they are doing it, should you add multiple questions to randomly pop up? or make the answer somewhat more difficult?

Probably a human signing up then letting the bot take over, or it may even just not be a bot at all.

Have you tried adding the Stop Forum Spam modifications? Also the Askimet one?

Interesting, I guess it could be real people.. never thought of that. I have skimmed over the stop forum spam but have not installed it. People have way to much time on there hands if it is a real person hand spamming.

Could be the question you are using. Any question with numbers in it they can get past. Speaking from experience here btw.

That suits my case, currently it can be either 2 or two. makes perfect sense.

I have the same problem... evethough i have it set up as they have to retype the word that i have mentioned in the question but still getting spammers which makes me think it can't b bots.

I had the answer in bold letters, tough it was in german, spambots (or the human kind) could get past when they simply copy-pasted what was put in <strong> tags.

After I added multiple more questions which weren't too obvious, I never had a bot registering since.

Also, I try to avoid all those blown-up anti-spam mods because I'm afraid of too many false-positives.
