How can I include forumstatistics into the header?

Hey,
I'm trying to show some statistics (like total number of members) on the header, but I have some problems..
In the FORUMHOME template I can use {vb:raw numbermembers}, but this doesn't work for the header template, since the header isn't part of the forum.php :\
so what can I do?
