Coffee

Or an entire cup rather... will KILL your microsoft sidewinder x6 keyboard...

Ohh it's true, well off to buy another one, on daughters for now :p.

Coffee is the least of my problems ... last year ants ate the rubber membranes from two of my keyboards ...

I'd suggest a G19 if you have the money, or a G15 (but they discontinued it :()

I would suggest getting a keyboard cover that adheres to the keys. I have one for my Microsoft Office Keyboard and it has saved it a few times.

I've heard that ants can (or will rather) eat through wiring but never had it happen... I suppose that's worse then coffee because at least I suspect I was SOL you must wait for one more chew oye!

Meh... I'm on my daughters keyboard (my old G15 the 2007 series) until Tuesday when another new Sidewinder X6 arrives I was already used to the key spacing and fyi though you would want a G510 as it has the 3 column row of G keys on the left just like the G15 did.

I'm meh'n that one too lol, no covers just next time don't sit my coffee down and get all excited over something and swing my arms around like a dodo :p. My wife was sitting right beside me and knew it "was on" right when it happened lol.

As I mentioned to Roms on facebook... even took it apart and cleaned with rubbing alcohol to no avail, let it sit on front of a fan to dry the assembled and tried... not everything's acting right so I finally became TO'd and simply ordered another... at least I have a spare working number pad .

Edit: Actually, I've seen those washable keyboards even ones for the dishwasher... now when a company makes the next G20 or X7 and it's washable we'll all be set!

I'm talking about a clear keyboard cover that is especially mode for your keyboard that covers it in clear plastic molded around the keys so you can use it like normal. Once you have tried one of these, you will never be without it, trust me.

The G15 for me is the LCD bit and the usb ports. The Gkeys I don't find super useful. If this g15 ever dies, I think im getting one of the ggamer pad things, and will suffer with the loss of the usb hub.

I miss the built in usb... X6 does not have them so running a long usb extension for my MX Revolution mouse so it gets the closest, clearest signal. I will say that my G15 lasted me and is still running strong for my daughter however it was either $60 something for a X6 or around a $100 something for a G510 so considering the price point and the fact the LCD was useless well for me... shows me my ammo clip and a few more stats only? Or a clock ohh wow :p although I had experimented with it and downloaded all sorts of stuff for use on the LCD display it seemed the end-user continued interest simply died w/ the newer versions imo. One thing I never did was use the macros in-game... I know, I know but to me as I explained to my daughter... the way I felt then and still now is, not everyone "gaming" can afford a $100+ macro enabled keyboard so I never used the macro functionality at all in multi-player/online games only in Single-player/Campaign modes otherwise imo it felt like cheating using it against actual people but then again I did pay for it, ultimately my little well dressed man in white on my shoulder said "no Mike, it's just not right" but hey that's me and my ironic sense of morals eh? :erm:

That is so true. I use one of those as well and I don't want to miss it anymore.
