Reset admin password trouble...
 

I have a strange problem with admin passwords. None of the passwords for the admin usergroup will work once the admin is logged out, and I cannot recover the password or make a new one using any method. This forces me to have to create a new user and run tools.php every time i want to get into the admin cp. When i use the password reset function on the forum, a new password is sent but it never works. When i get into the admin cp by creating a new user and tools.php method, i find the admin and manually type in the password, but once I log out and try to log in, the password does not work!! Also, this does not happen with regular users only admins!!

Anyone have any idea why its doing this?

Connect to your MySQL database and replace the salt and hash of the user with one of a known password.

Would you mind explaining how to do this? Im fairly stupid when it comes to MYSQL databases. I dont know how to connect to it or modify it. I havent had much luck in finding a tutorial for complete newbs either. I tried phpmyadmin but could not figure out how to install it.

Im pretty desperate at this point. Any help would be good.

Everytime I go back to the forum after the admincp it says

"Your password is 423 days old, and has therefore expired.

Please change your password using this page."

Yes, it does.
And have you done so? It sounds like you have the option on that requires passwords to be reset. So, reset the password and then you should be able to login to the forum and the admincp.
