Custom date field for thread title prefix
 

My forum has a News section. We have a rule that all news articles need to be dated in the thread title in this format:

My question is, how would I go about creating a custom field, to go in front of the thread title field on newthread.php? Is there some way I can limit what can be entered in that field, and can I limit the field to only display as an option in newthread.php for certain forums?

The end result would look something like:

lol... I do exactly that on my site (except yyyy-mm-dd) except I have a custom page for those forums for creating the thread that has javascript for those fields. I think there is a mod here called Something Form or Form Something that may help you out. Try a search on "form".
