vBulletin 4 vs vBulletin 3

What is better and stable? Tanks :D

Eplexx 06-03-2011 03:58 PM

I'd have to say vb3 is more stable although vb4 has some serious updates that a lot of people either need or really want. I upgraded to vb4 from vb3 not that long ago, my reasoning was because vb4 is easier for SEO and marketing. The very thing I need for my site to blast of thus vb4 has so far been working out for me.

only the latest and greatest will do ;)

Read my Just downgraded to vBulletin 3 thread .... tells you the story

i use both, depending on clients needs...

some guys prefer an old 1979 Corvette, some prefer the latest model... do each car is able to drive the guys at home after work?! sure they do... with different noises, different whistles from the gals on the streets... but they do!

vb3

I tried everything to like vBulletin 4. And I do like all the new features. But in the end the resources just couldn't justify it. Sadly I couldn't downgrade (don't think you really can), so onto XenForo I went.

We'll see how vBulletin 5 turns out.

Personally, I hate the way VB 4 looks, its absolutely ugly.

The default vb4 skin has to be one of the worst looking skins I have ever seen of any forum software.

I voted vBulletin 3, because vB4 looks awful. I'm sure there are some new, important and useful features in vB4, but the look of it all is very important in forum software, because you spend a lot of time reading and writing a lot of text, and so the design is of utmost importance here. That said, it's also the reason why I use vB3.8 over IP.Board and phpBB, even though I'm pretty sure phpBB is better in many areas since it's open source (superior development methodology).
