Rep button to also trigger Thanks

I would like to use the give Rep button to give rep and then, transparently to the user, trigger the [Ajax] Post thank you hack as if the Thank You button had been clicked. Has anybody any hints as to how I might do this?

If it would be easier to to the reverse sequence I would be just as happy.
