All shoutboxe's killing CPU

I have tried many shoutboxe's, when ever i enable it my server load goes really high - even with just 2 people in the SB

is there a fix, or what is the most optimised one?

ive got dbtech lite and whenever i enable it, CPU shoots up to as high as 40
even with only 3 people in it

Sounds odd. I assume you've read through that thread from start to finish for a solution?

FWIW, I use VSa - ChatBox (AJAX) , only I configure it as a shoutbox since I'm on shared hosting.

Are you also running vBSEO? if so are you remembering to add vbshout to the exceptions?

Also, what hosting type do you have/server type? If you are on cheap shared hosting any shoutbox will hurt load due to their nature (they exchange data with the server regularly).

Lastly, have you tried enabling the advanced optimisation protocol, and changing your shoutbox settings (e.g auto idle is on, shoutbox only displays on one page, change how often the shoutbox refreshes)?

Hmm, if you don't have VBSEO, auto idle is on and the refresh is 6 seconds but it's killing your server then it sounds like a server issue.

You may want to try one of the other chat/shoutboxes here on vb.org, but i suspect you'll run into the same issues.
