Best Mods for HUGE Forums??
 

Hey Everyone,

Installing VB3 now and changing over from an older forum. We have tons of site members (Just over 350,000). What kind of mods will keep users around and make them want to stay in the forum?

IE: How can we reward members by points if someone Thanks them? Can we make it so a user can thank the same person only ONCE a day or not spam thank him?

We want to award users with points and new avatars, sigs, etc. Let them use points to unlock forum rankings and new forums. We just don't want SPAM from this. Any ideas?

Any other ideas for addictive mods that make you want to keep coming back?

It's like a Points/Store system, I know a couple of forums that added this.

For the thanks, if your changing from a different forum software, you can use this "Thanks" modification ,and just configure it https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=165673

If your upgrading from a older version of vB, 3.6.12 or 3.5, then the mod above would still be available for you to use.

Less mods, better your forum is. I'm using vB3 and I have these mods/plugins installed:

- AJAX Collapsible List of Thanks
- vBSEO Sitemap Generator
- The Image Resizer

And a lot permanent hacks n plugins..

Content will do more for getting users involved and wanting to stay than modifications will, as most big mods will use unnecessary queries that could end up slowing things down.
