Developer documentation please

Hi,

I don't hold out much hope, but could someone point out some useful vb documentation resources. I'm aware of the api and the manual, but neither of these are particularly helpful. What documentation their is in the API is pretty sparse and the manual doesn't really cover development.

If you want to develop vBulletin, is it really a case of trial and error and searching in the code?
