Avatar in place of/next to post icon

Does anyone know where I can find a mod that places the users avatar next to their post reply like on this board? Also on this same board, does anyone know where I can find the mod that puts users who have visited with their avatar next to their name, at the foot of the forum?

I'm using vb 3.8.6. I cannot find these mods anywhere. Ugh.

Lynne 04-16-2011 03:00 AM

What do you mean you can't find them anywhere - all the links he posted are valid links.

MrHorror 04-16-2011 04:45 PM

Yeah but the mods weren't what I was looking for. They do similar to what I wanted, but not specifically.

Lynne 04-16-2011 05:13 PM

Then modify it to do what you want. I don't think I've used any mod from here exactly as it was released - I've always modified it specifically for my site.

I have no idea how to modify mods. As an ex ipb user, never really had to modify any mods I used for our board.

Okay good news. I installed the avatarforumdisplay mod and edited it to resize avatars and made it english language. But how would I edit this plugin code here...

Code:

require_once('./includes/functions_user.php');
        $userid = $thread['postuserid'];
        $username = $thread['postusername'];
        $avatarurl = fetch_avatar_url($userid);
        if ($avatarurl == '') {
          $avatar = "<div class='avatar_forumdisplay' style='float:$stylevar[left]'><a href='member.php?u=$userid'><img src='$stylevar[imgdir_misc]/aucun_avatar.gif' border='0' width='50' height='50' alt='Profil de $username'></a></div>";
        }
        else {
          $avatar = "<div class='avatar_forumdisplay' style='float:$stylevar[left]'><a href='member.php?u=$userid'><img src='image.php?u=$userid' border='0' width='50' height='50' alt='Avatar $username'></a></div>";
        }

to get the avatars to display on the forums index page in place of the usual post icons like question mark, smiley, etc? Would it be as simple as changing avatar_forumdisplay to avatar_indexdisplay?

Lynne 04-16-2011 08:00 PM

avatar_forumdisplay is a class - it has nothing to do with where it displays, it has to do with the CSS and how the item is formatted.

You need to make sure the code is on the correct page that you need the variable to be used. Then you need to make sure you use the correct variable name in that template.
