Shifting forum to new directory

I am going to be installing a wordpress site for my main page instead of what used to be direct access to my forum when you went to my URL. I suppose there have been links to the forum as it stands now, but if I move the forum to a new directory, those links will break, but how can I preserve them and still install my WP in its place?
