Customize Admin Permissions
 

I'm writing in hopes of identifying the easiest way to customize administrator permissions. The last thread on this subject was written in 2008 and I didn't want to necro-bump it. Is this article still the easiest, most up-to-date method for customizing admin permissions?

Here's what I want to do. The attached image shows all options available to an administrator with the pre-fab "Can Administrate Users" options. However, I only want these users to be able to access the "Search for Users" option (outlined in red). I'm no coder, so any advice that you can give would be extremely helpful. If it is easier, I would also be opened to allowing for this more advanced user search in the ModCP.

You'd have to extend the current administrator permissions in some way, then file edit the checks into the actual different areas. It'd take a considerable amount of work as far as I can tell.
