Better Facebook Intergration

Does anyone know how to improve the current Facebook Integration? As it stands right now, almost every page on vBulletin calls / ping back to Facebook.com. This drastically can slow down browser page load time, because while your site has already & quickly loaded... The browser is still trying to connect to Facebook.com

However, this is not true on every site which has Facebook added. This seems to be something that vBulletin may have encoded differently.

Thoughts? (Other then just turning it off)

until i see a version that has no bugs and is bullet proof I wont worry about page speed :) this stuff changes so often and addresses bugs with every new version, even if you get all mods working and your site loading, a new version will be out in 2 months that will force you and every coder in here to recode it all, to come up to speed ..speed is not my issue with vb

We'll agree to disagree.

I agree that it's crazy that we seem to always have yet another release. But disagree on ignoring the importance of optimizing my community the best I can.

I am still trying to figure out how to keep Facebook, but without it calling home to Facebook on every page.

have you tried to just go into face book and make some like buttons and install those and turn of the integration ?

I am not sure if the pinging is worse than grabbing the like button gifs?
I know that allowing people to log in using facebook quick login is a waste of time as I dont think its sticky that way, if they don't see enough content to have them sign up using our system they probably aren't really that interested, im not a fan of shared integrations , what we need is a button on face book that they hit and it posts a like on our site :)

you know what i would really like to see is a site ring mod that connects all vb boards to one another and when a person clicks on the next site button it will send them to the next site in line to be visited, we did this way back when i ran mud boards. and it works

it would also force people who has it installed to be legit sites as their being a valid lic holder in good standing would be what allowed them to be in the ring :)

it would also give back links to each and every board giving us good seo this would have to be a vb addon because the link that is in the registration area to the site that's licensed by them
