removing all soft deleted threads

Is there a mod or query I can run that physically deletes all soft deleted threads?

Lynne 02-23-2011 10:13 PM

Why do you not want to do this through the admincp?

dethfire 03-01-2011 03:46 AM

it appears that the admincp function will delete the entire thread if it finds a deleted post? it's very confusing.

You said you wanted to delete threads. Now you only want to delete posts?

dethfire 03-01-2011 07:36 PM

no, but it appears it may delete the entire thread if there is a deleted post in that thread.

I really don't understand what you are asking since one minute it sounds like you want threads deleted, and then next minute it sounds like you only want posts deleted. Anyway, just try this on your test site and you will see exactly what happens.

what test site? ;)

I guess I don't know how to explain it better. I want to physically delete any soft deleted threads. However in prune threads it appears it will delete non deleted threads just because they have soft deleted posts within that thread. That is what I am seeing. I select "deleted threads" as the prune parameter and it lists threads that are not deleted but rather contain deleted posts. But the title says "threads to delete". So I am asking is this a typo or will this option really delete the entire currently active thread just because it contains a soft deleted post.

I tried this on my 3.8 test site - I set for the criteria:
Thread State: Deleted
Forum: Test Forum

and the only threads that were listed where ones where the first post was deleted (and thus the whole thread was deleted). It did not list any threads for me where some other post was deleted but the first post was not.

(I would strongly recommend setting up a test site.)

you a very right! i didn't see the trash icon for the first post. new question. is there a way to set all soft deleted threads to viewable?

Lynne 03-01-2011 10:05 PM

If they are viewable, then they are no longer deleted. So, you want to undelete the threads?
