Private forum manager??

I've got a few regional clubs that want their own private forum with the ability to control access - can vBulletin handle something like this?

What I'd like to be able to do is create the forum, block it from public view and give one (or two) users access and moderation control to just that forum.

I should probably add that the few that have approached me are the tip of the iceberg, so hopefully the solution is pretty simple and won't (over time) cause undue strain on the forum software.

It's amazing how much MORE perspective one gets after a second cup of coffee.

Found the social groups - that looks like a pretty good option to me. Only question now is how to restrict view access if you're not a group member - seeing the group name in the group list is fine, but I want to keep the discussions (posts) private - and the pictures.

To make discussions in the group all private, go to AdminCP > Settings > Options > Group Options > Allow Join-to-View Groups > set to Yes.

When set, this allows the creator of a group the option to only show contents (messages, pictures) of the group to members of that group (or Administrators and Moderators).
Now in their Group Options for their group, they can click on "Users must join to view the content"

Got it, thanks very much! I must have overlooked that option a dozen times.

Yes, it probably will. What a few people are asking for is the ability to have private clubs that only they control. Who knows what they will do there. We know they won't actually attract any new members for your forum, because they don't want any guests (or members) to be able to see what they're up to. A bigger issue - how are you planning to verify the people that claim to control these regional clubs really do?
