Save external image attachements to database automatically

One of the most annoying thing in any forum (to me at least) is to find a thread and all the attached images from photobucket, flickr and any other image host LOST!!!!! No more... deleted...moved....red X'ed...or worse... replaced by something completely unrelated and in some cases inappropriate....

SO.........

On my Wordpress sites it saves attached images from syndicated posts to the sites database. When an image comes in it is automatically replaced but the image saved locally.

Eureka!!! it is possible...

So why is it that this functionality has not been adapted to the worlds largest community script. You would think it would be an instant success and mod of the month guaranteed.

Now I dont have the knowledge to script such a hack but I'm sure someone here does.

Anyone want to take a stab at it.

I guess vb.org isnt the site it once was. Oh well back to the drawing board.

Admin feel free to delete the thread....

I seem to remember reading someone else asking for this recently. In any case, it's only been one day since you posted this - I'm sure most members don't even visit every day.

I would like this also, or at least something similiar so that when I 'archive' a thread it then pulls the external images across!

There's a mod to do this, it doesn't save to the database but to the file system...

https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=253309 it says for VB 4.x but works fine on 3.8.

Old-Git I see you saw it already, but the latest version does indeed let you specify specific forumids so it should work with your archive forum idea.
