Advertising discussion..

Hello,

I want to discuss with you about the way you earn money back for your forum, to pay for your server and so on.

I used to get sponsors for my site, and they used to pay in exchange of some ads in the main page, some sticky topics..... etc.

But this new year I don't have one, and didn't find one till now ... in other words I'm facing a financial problem now and have to find a new way to finance the forum back.

I heard about Google-Ads, but I found that they pay per click, not per view, and I guess that this will not work with me.

So, I ran to the community here to find a solution :D, I need your opinion in that issue, please feel free to talk :).

You could at least answer these 3 questions :
What's your way for paying your server and earning back some money ?
What's your opinion about Google-Ads and similar advertising companies ? Did you try any of them ?
Is there a pay-per-view advertising ways ?

Google Ad Sense pays per view and per click... true the per view rate can very VERY low but even 1 or 2 clicks can quickly add up.

ContextWeb is another ad serving service which pays better than Google on a pay per view basis- but they can't fill every ad spot so you should still use Google as a backup.

You could also look into offering subscriptions for premium memberships- you can give paying members more options (more PM space, bigger avatars, etc..._)

You can also try http://www.viglink.com/ or drivingrevenue.com, they will auto make any links anyone makes on your forum to participating online stores (amazon, ebay, many more) into affiliate links where you will get a percentage of any items they buy from your link.

Each alone may not bring in much but all 3 combined has been enough to pay for my hosting and licensing costs so far.
