How many Mods, hacks, and tweaks do you have?

On your community, how many things have you added to your community?

I'm currently using 18 themes (19 if counting the system default). 101 modifications and tweaks from here. Maybe another 6 from else where. And I currently have another 20 modifications pending. Added 661 avatars and 200 smilies.

Just bear in mind running a massive amount of modifications can slow your board down and cause issues, it really depends on the mods and how they work in conjunction with vBulletin and each other. I'm assuming your not having any issues since your posting which is fantastic OldSchoolDSL! The rest of you be careful and don't go to overboard, never forget it's functionality and presentation not one or the other ;).

I test everything before it even makes it to my community.

1st I test on a default (un-edited and un-mod) setup of vBulletin (good to see how it really affect things)

2nd I test on mod copy of my home site (good to see how it will play out on the home site)

3rd I backup the database

4th I backup the database AGAIN (always nice to have more then 1 copy)

5th I finally apply it to my home site.

6th wait before adding anything new, so I'm 100% sure the 1st change did not do anything wrong

I have 88 modifications listed in my products overview, but that doesnt include the template edits and other addons. I keep file and template edits to a minimum.

I run a very busy board and when I install an addon that functions badly, it mostly becomes apparent quickly. The server will slow down. Members will file bug reports (often within minutes).

Always backup. Check what effect an addon has on performance & page load.

how can I add more smilies for my site? It is my first vB board as I came from phpbb3.

also, waht on earth do you have that you have 88 mods? Lollll !! some helpful or popular ones would be awesome!!

First you'll need to upload your smilies via ftp to your smilies folder or sub-folder within smilies folder -- then go to your AdminCP ---- AdminCP ==> Smilies ==> Add New Smilie ;)

HTH

A lot. Oh my.... 48 products. A couple I could probably delete now, but they were needed at the time. But honestly, most of these are needed and most of small (just one or two plugins). Several are ones I wrote myself to help the mods moderate the site easier (so very site specific mods).

LOL - Interesting post though Lynne - I'd be most interested in seeing a comprehensive list of your installed products! Also - the ones you wrote for easier moderation... Have you shared them here at the (dot)org?
