I have trawled this forum looking for a simple answer to the question "Is there a way that you can use the VB login on other php pages ?".

Scenario....

I have a mailform that I would like to use, but I would like to restrict access to registered users only. Thus, they have to log in to use it. I would like it to be able to use their forum username and passwords.

......end scenario.

I belive that Ruth was after a similar thing, but the method was never really explained.

I am not a coder and have no experience with PHP, however so far I have managed to extract the login box details from the index.php and paste them into index2.php

When I enter my username and password it takes me to the main forum listing (index.php). I would prefer it to return me to the index2.php page instead, how do I do this?

From my understanding I have to mess with the member.php file too, and maybe the global php file aswell?

Could someone detail, in newbie terms, how I can complete my project please?

Kind Regards

Onslo

I'm going to move this thread to the hack requests forum, as that is more likely to get you some responses.

aha - thanks for the heads up :)
That thread is concerned just with logging in. I would actually like to have people log in on the main page, but also use their vB access level to dictate whether or not they can view other php pages on my site. I am also interested in drawing info on who has dowloaded certain items - any ideas?

Thanks

This may actually be a custom hack request....
Basically I have created a Moderator user group who have no permissions other than to access certain "extra" forums. This same group of individuals should be able to access certain other .php pages on my site that are entirely unrelated to vBulletin. Is it possible to use the vB identification system to perform this task? If it is, I'm sure it would be HUGELY useful to many people :)

Certify,

I want to do exactly that on my site but can't seem to get it to work.

Would you be willing to show me the code you used on your home page and on the indivdual pages to require login?

Thank you!
