Thumbnails in Thread

Does anybody know any other options available to add thumbnails to a thread. The only one I find in Mods for vB4 is not supported and doesn't work properly.

I'm so frustrated with Mods. I'm very thankful to the developers for taking the time to make these things and on donation basis but the problem is that alot of developers just decide not to bother at some point. Then your up a creek... I wish they would all just charge some money for their mods so that they would be more likely to support them down the road : (

Any ideas? Adding thumbnails to a thread seems so basic?

I'm not sure what you mean. Do you have thumbnails turned on in AdminCP > Settings > Options > message attachment options > Thumbnail Creation and View Attached Images Inline

I'm meaning from the forum/thread view.

Basically this is exactly what I need but it doesn't work properly and is scary to use it even if I get it fixed since the developer stated that he has no desire in supporting or developing it.

Alternative? I've searched the forums and googled my brains out. Nothin.

That's the one thats not working for me?

They should change the "supported" check-mark in that thread as it's not supported.

what issues are you having, I didn't see a reply from you on the last 2 pages:confused:

Most likely the problem is the automatic template edit. So, either modify that to work with the current version of vb you are using, or do the template edits manually and turn off the plugin that does the template edit.

I didn't reply on that developers thread because I read through several pages and about 3-4 from the back he states that he is not going to continue supporting it at all for the most part. Based on that I don't know if I should bother trying to even get the plugin to work because isn't there a strong possibility that one of these minor vB updates are just going to break the plugin anyways causing me to have to drop the feature?

I posted here because I was hoping there was a paid or another alternative to that one that others are using?

The last issue I had was that it wasn't displaying the 1st attached image (or any). I would get a broken link image. When I clicked on it I found that it's not directing to the proper image attachment address. For some reason it's shortening it...

Example: it's trying to find an image here:

17t-testing-again-thumbs-image-upload-09-jpg

when the real thumbnail is here:

17d1293740046-testing-again-thumbs-image-upload-09-jpg

Are you using vbseo or something that changes what the links look like?

AlexisMedia 12-30-2010 07:33 PM

Yes, downloaded vBSEO yesterday or the day before. Didn't think about that. Is there a fix other then changing a vBSEO setting? SE results are more important to me...

In a perfect world I wish that this would have it's own upload field and be easily changeable by the user. Or even using the last upload instead of the 1st...
