Another vBSEO thread

I want the best SEO possible. I'm thinking this is the best bet. I'm almost finishing customizing my new forum... if I install this will it mess things up? Or known for a smooth transition? I just figure it's best to get on the bandwagon of their software from the start before I have a bunch of threads and posts right?

http://www.vbseo.com/

Is it worth the cash or vB4 good at most of this already?

Will it be hard to setup or easy?

Any feedback regarding this would be great. I've searched the forums and read alot of threads on it but was hoping for more as it's almost the cost of vB itself...

Thanks!

I havent seen the need for any additional products, as of yet. I have been working with vBull4 for just over 9 months now.

Can anyone explain what the real benefits are of using something like vbseo?

vbSEO is recommended than its general settings.
check this http://www.vbseo.com/en/feature-matrix/ for more info.

Here is my rundown of features that would apply to me or that I care about. I've disabled "albums" etc so alot of the 1st stuff on the list doesn't really matter to me.

Based off this stuff below, are their other good free plugins that do most of this stuff already or is vBSEO really the easiest thing and worth the money in the case of wanting these features? If your curious about what this stuff is then just use the link and hover the question marks...

Hierarchic URL Structure

100% Canonical Structure (not sure how this works really)

Reformat Archive into an HTML Sitemap

Invert Archive Thread Display Order (very valuable to SE relevancy and an important feature to our site)

Homepage Aliases*

Site-wide rel="nofollow" for non-canonical links (doesn't vB do this already?)

Granular rel="nofollow" control for internal pages (see above)

Google Analytics Integration

Log Search Engine Spiders

Tracking External Link Clicks (Nice to know)

Basic Segmentation Tracking (Nice to know)

Enhanced Segmentation Tracking (Nice to know)

Virtual HTML Display

Dynamic Meta Tags (Meta keywords may to little but otherwise I'm still a solid believer)

Cleanup HTML (SE's do like clean and fast code now!)

Full Pingback/Trackback/Refback System (if it works as described is very cool)

Thanks for the feedback : )

I know there's been previous discussion on this in the past one for example here:

https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=140746

What I can say (imo) is this, if your not familiar with SEO, purchase vBSEO as it works out of the box so you install and let it fly. Just like anything else in life if you want more you must spend time configuring it how you wish it to be. You can "SEO" your forum without it however again if your not experienced with SEO or don't have the time to check into it and implement properly then their price is not too harsh ;).

As always imo and remember there are other past threads on here and other sites with this same question and all sorts of answers from experienced site owners as well so don't be afraid to search, that way your well informed before you make a decision ;).

Yep, I've read that one already. As mentioned in my 1st post:

I'm actually very well referenced in SEO. I can talk to you all day about it with a normal website and I've built several sites that hold very high PR's. But the underlying structure of forums are a whole different ball park as are what plugins they have available to them. Plus, a couple things I've not really heard of and not sure if it's smoke and mirrors in relations to forum SEO or not.

Anyways, your points are true but I was hoping to drill down and maybe get a little more direct feedback. Maybe I'm kicking the dead horse though...

Thanks!

It never hurts to ask for more input, gather others thoughts to help you make up your mind ;). With your experience though a little time spent learning how to do it in vBulletin may pay off in the short or long term :D.
