Local Search Hack

My first post! I'd like to create my first forum/classified. I have so many quesitons that I don't know where to start, but I'll try...

1. Is there a hack where users can select their local area from a dropdown to isolate posts/classifieds from a certain area? Like craigslist for example. User can select Washington DC and they'll see only classifieds and posts in the Washington DC area.

2. Can I use admin features to send posts out to facebook or twitter?

1) The software has Thread Prefixes which you may require in certain forums. Then there is a mod that makes it so you may click on a prefix and filter all the threads in that forum to only show threads with that prefix.

2) There are several Facebook Options which you may turn on to allow you to publish threads to facebook. Nothing built in for twitter though.

Thanks Lynne! Sorry for the basic question, but will the Prefixes display as drop down munus?

Also, can I have one prefix downselect to another? For example, the first prefix downselects from states to cities? If I choose Virginia on the first, it will filter to cities only in Virginia on the second.

Thanks!

Yes, the prefixes are displayed as a dropdown when the thread is being created.

In default vb, you cannot do the downselect that you asked about. You would need custom coding for that.

You would hire someone. When you are licenseed, you may post in the Requests For Paid Services and look for someone. Or, there are many admin or vbulletin or forum sites you may advertise on - just google it.
