Error when regsitering

When users go to register on the site and when they click submit it gives a database error. The users still get put into the database, but they do not get emails or are able to login.

The site is nyvtec.com

What i did was take user table from one site and uploaded it to the next site. They are both on the same versions..

Can someone pleaseee help me asap!!

Without some more info.. i.e. why did you do the import from one to the other? Were there previous issues etc it's hard to help debug however you can try repairing the table and/or updating counters in AdminCP > Maintenance > Select the option you want then go just be careful some things such as statistics etc cannot be recovered once ran.

Best I can do until you post more info ;).

what i did was this.
I have 2 forums, i took the members from site A and droped them into site B so they can use site B also.

So the tables i copied over were all the things that said User in the database...now i cant fix this issue.. Pleaseeee save me ill love you for ever!!! ill never for get this help

ctvtec I'm curious as to why you did not restore a backup? Was this to import the users from one site to completely different site? I need the background info on all of this your losing me on part of this...

Edit: Ok by your first post yes it was, why was that? You do realize even though you state they were the same version there could be other factors involved here that are causing your issues. You can't simply import tables and hope for the best what you should do is restore the entire backup you have.

Ok i had the website ctvtec.com
So now i wanted to open nyvtec.com So now i wanted all my ctvtec.com users to be able to login with the same username and passwords to nyvtec.com so they didnt have to sign up again.

Now they are able to login, and new people are able to sign up. But once the new users go to login again, it says the username or password is wrong.

Ahh ok, what you should have done was this:
  • Import the backup, restore the site but under the new domain etc.
  • Delete all forums and posts.
  • Customize your style and remove or add in modifications.

Now the site is up without errors and all you had to do was delete all forums and posts! That's the easy way that you can't mess up, there might be some additional cleanup but you'll much prefer that then your current woes.

ctvtec 12-16-2010 06:42 AM

Ok so what should i do now. I have posts and a couple new users the signed up..
How do i save everything and do what you just said to do?

TheLastSuperman 12-16-2010 06:44 AM

A few new posts and users only? I would shut it down now and redo it from the backup. If it's only a few and you can live with it otherwise it's more work you must do and we don't want to pull info from a DB you've already sort of spliced catch my drift?

Edit: You can manually recreate the users accounts, there's also a change posts date and owner mod out as well so you could repost then change your name to theirs - an idea but again that's more work to so whatever you decide to do.

is there any steps that you might be able to give so i dont mess things up?

TheLastSuperman 12-16-2010 07:18 AM

Take your time is key ;).

Use something simple like bigdump.php or MySQLDumper to import it with, bigdump is a simple file to upload and run otherwise you'll need to install MySQLDumper.

Restoring is touched base on here: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=227933

And I'm off to bed on that one, good luck and I will check back on you tomorrow ;).
