Can some one help me - even willing to pay

I crashed my friends board .... Went to do upgrade from 3.6.8 to 3.8.6 and server acted up, now I can not fix it... I ended up reloading all the 3.6.8 files I downloaded from VB.com...

So i am in deep $%$#.

THIS IS AN EXACT LIST OF WHAT I DID AND DID NOT DO IN AN ATTEMPT TO UPGRADE IT, THEN REDO BACKUP:

Made backup:
vb_forumbackup-12-06-2010-2a9d7.sql

Then uploaded files from:
vbulletin_3-8-6_Patch_Level_1_VBF04D9912.zip
To:
www.xxxxxxxxxxxxx.com/forum

Did not touch files in:
www.xxxxxxxxxxxxx.com ONLY touched these "www.xxxxxxxxxxxxx.com/forum"

Followed all directions, but did not over write these folders because we need contents in them that have our banners, smilies and programs:
www.xxxxxxxxxxxxx.com/forum/images/banners
www.xxxxxxxxxxxxx.com/forum/images/smilies
www.xxxxxxxxxxxxx.com/forum/includes/xml

Did not touch these folders:
www.xxxxxxxxxxxxx.com/forum/arcade
www.xxxxxxxxxxxxx.com/forum/chat
www.xxxxxxxxxxxxx.com/forum/dbtech
www.xxxxxxxxxxxxx.com/forum/ps3
www.xxxxxxxxxxxxx.com/forum/sr_classifieds

Reconfiged the www.xxxxxxxxxxxxx.com/forum/includes/config.php to have all proper info on it, then ran the:
www.xxxxxxxxxxxxx.com/forum/install/upgrade.php

Nothing worked after that.

Then reloaded all the 3.6.8 files, once again not touching all the folders and files above. Files uploaded are from:
vbulletin_3-6-8_Patch_Level_2_VBF04D9912.zip

From here I did not do anything as i know i needed help.

Please let me know what i need to do, or if someone can get in and fix it at a reasonable cost - please ... PLEASE let me know.

If this is the wrong place to post i apologize - please tell me where i should post this to get better answers.

thankyou!

You should set up a test site and try this out there first.

You need to at least upload the default vbulletin files into this directory - www.xxxxxxxxxxxxx.com/forum/includes/xml You can't skip uploading the new files into there.

The edit of the config.php file was not necessary for such a un upgrade. WHat is/are the exact error/s that you got during the upgrade? May we see a link to your forum?

The good news is that you made a backup. You can roll back and then perform the upgrade first at your test forum as suggested by Lynne above.

man the backup he got is missing tables:
when i looked in phpmyadmin the only tables I found there is for a chat box and thats the only backup he have am sorry but there is no way that site is coming back... :(

PHP Code:

            WHERE title IN ('','options','bitfields','attachmentcache','forumcache','usergroupcache','stylecache','languagecache','products','pluginlist','cron','profilefield','loadcache','noticecache');

and yes the tables where deleted of phpmyadmin ...

Maybe he can ask his/her host if they do have a backup. You never know, he/she might luck out.

How would tables be missing?
what is in vb_forumbackup-12-06-2010-2a9d7.sql
also, you need to upload all the files, especially the files inside the includes folder
what is the exact error message you see when you try to run upgrade.php?

vb_forumbackup-12-06-2010-2a9d7.sql

i dont have access to the server directly only the user cp. can something be done? please help.
