Make "personal text" not convert to URL link?

Is a mod out there that stops members from entering web sites in as their personal text? If they include the www it will show as a linked URL to their site.

What is "personal text"? If you stop users from being able to post URLs, then they won't be linked URLs.

So is there a way to automatically stop them from entering URL's? Or do I need to sort through all 20,000 of my members looking for them? ;)

To actually stop them from entering urls? No. But, as I said, you can not allow them to use the [ url ] tag and then links won't be live links. But, they will still be there as text. I have no idea if there is a mod that will stop users from entering a link in the first place.

Can I not allow them to use the [ ulr ] tag just in their personal text? I don't mean to restrict them from posting links in their threads or signature. Just not in their "personal text" area.

Since I still have no idea what "personal text" is (I asked that in my first reply), I really can't answer that question.

Oops! I'm really sorry for the confusion. "Personal Text" is a User Profile field I set up. I've had it as part of my forums for so many years I completely forgot it's not a default VB profile field.

So what I'm really asking is... when using a single-line text box User Profile can I force it to not convert URL's to clickable links? Currently any text entered in that field that starts with www gets converted to a link. No BB codes required.

Thanks and again I apologize for the confusion. :o

You would have to modify the code that renders the profile fields to do that. I've never looked into it, so I can't tell you exactly where to look. But that will require either a plugin or actual code changes.
