Free updates for this version??

My partner is thinking of buying a new vb4 licence.

Looking at the VB purchase page, one of the things i notice is that it says Free updates for this version.

Does that mean the complete version 4, or does it mean that when it moves from 4.1 to 4.2 etc the licence will be no good, because she bought it at 4.1??

So basically, when it becomes 4.9, will she still get all the updates free, until version 5??

Thanks:)

Complete VB 4.x... if there is a VB 4.9 he or she will get that too. Although it's unlikely we'll see more than 4.3 or 4.4 before 5.0.

Thanks for that.

Vbulletin 3.X lasted until 3.8. What makes you think 4.x won't be updated until that version number?

On vbulletin.com they (Internet Brands) are already talking about version 5.0. I think we'll see it within 12 months personally... Others say 18... in either case that's not much time to see 4.8 or 4.9...

I mean 3.0 did skip to 3.5 right away so "really" 3.8 was 3.4.

This is the main reason she is a little apprehensive, because of the new licence system. It is in Vb's interest to update every year to keep the funds coming in as before, while staying ahead of IPB's payment structure????

We have also heard that VB 5.0 is already in the pipeline. This we think is a test period for VB, as we think if they take the "urine" with the new pricing structure, it could change peoples way of thinking.

Questions regarding licensing can best be asked on vBulletin.com where you can get an official response.
