HELP with stopping spam!
 

Thanks for viewing this thread. I do need help with stopping someone on my site from spamming me like crazy.

I am getting multiple users a day (all with different IP addresses) making posts like this on. I will remove the contact info provided by the users.

well if its a human being u won't b able to do much to stop it (cux alot of ppl do use country changer/ip changer) ,but if its being done by bots then u have an option of adding a security question on registration or posts, it might work for you.

The best way that I have managed to stop the spam, was to install a URL mod that disallows users under 5 posts from posting links in the forums

Most of my spam attacks spammed links, so by adding a mod like this, I still get the signups, but not the posts anymore!

THanks K!nG and also Chrisbr, the user is not really listing links. Its just a long list of things they are selling and to message them.

I too have been having this problem so just about 12 hours ago I installed "VSa - Advanced Permissions Based on Post Count".. And have set the post count to 15, and now I await to see how it goes.

Quick note.. VSa - Advanced Permissions Based on Post Count should block links, emails and images... Though I have yet to see it working (not had a full day with it yet).

yea,,,,ban the ip, if need be ban the entire group ip if it is a single person not much u can do if they want to spam your forum... sounds like you need to use the security question feature on signup + email verification. I didnt even think it was still possible for bots to spam vbulletin anymore...due to all the anti spam protection + mods

Try Fassim Anti Form spam, it block registrations and you can do post scans.

I have installed fassim and it works great! But one more problem: I normally gain about 10-15 new members a day (real people) now I am randomly getting 150-200 everyday for the past 3 days (fake people) ad they even accept the email verification. I dont know what to do but hopefully someone will.
