does anyone know how to change the code so that the user name will be someones email, but they will be able to change there profile name so that everyone could use there real names...for example if a persons name is John Smith, they could log in with Johnsmith@yahoo.com and then they could have there profile have whatever name they want regardless if someone else has it...this would be much like how facebook and myspace do it...is that possible at all? any help would be most appreciated it is the last thing i need for my site. Thank you!

I think you could use user profile fields and have one called 'Display Name' or 'Real Name' and than change the 'user name' to 'login id' or something similar via the phrase manager. That way when they register they would have both fields to fill in. Now it would require some custom coding to get them to display the way you want but it shouldn't be too difficult.
