Catche Images

Is there away to catche all the images that are uploaded or linked by people using the img code, it would be so much better for our site if we could automatically retrieve the image and store it locally.

I know that with the wysiwyg editor this happens but as vB are failing to meet the demand of making this available in chrome & safari. And investing there time in making more money by developing iPhone apps ect ect... This is such a needed feature.
