vb.org Archive - Change Article Tumbnail Link

I have vbulletin CMS and have an article that I want to show at the top when people land on the page straight away. I have created an image, and unfortunately when it is clicked, it opens the image, rather than a link. I tried to asign a link to it via the standard editing window, but it didn't work.

Does anyone know how to do one of the following:

1. Change the layout so that the "new articles" present below an image that is there all the time which is clickable to the register to the forum link.
2. Change the link that the clickable image takes you to.
3. Add fields to register to the forum via an article
