It shouldn't happen usually. Most people use dynamic IP addresses provided by their host(s). If you ban an IP address that precise (instead of using a wildcard, for instance), chances are that all the user has to do is to /release and /renew his ipconfig in cmd.

I recommend trying to ban, for instance, 94.212.41.*. However, chances are that many more (innocent) IP addresses are banned as well.

You can't -fully- protect your board from people joining, even those who're banned. Some are annoying enough to start using proxies, but I do believe there's a product (by Paul) on here to assist ion that matter.

Add the Proxy to real Ip hack.
Only ban static IPs. Banning dynamic IPs has no use.
Some sites ban all proxy IPs. There is a hack for that too. :D

When you say they are back, do you just mean they showed up in the Currently Active Users list again? Or they registered again?

Maybe this hack will do the trick.

I'm a member at another site that gets continuously attacked by this one permanently banned user who refuses to stay away. He apparently uses a proxy to generate a new ip address each time he registers with a new username.

I'll look for that hack and see if it'll do the trick. Thanks for suggesting it.
