How to add rar extansion in Attachments Manager

hi All
first of all sorry for my bad english
i want to know how to add .rar extension in attachments. whenever i add this filetype its automatically converted as rar.gif when i uploaded any .rar file.
please tell me the right method to add .rar extension in attachments....
