All ready after 2 minuts after i send the support ticket to vbulletin.com, they were able to decide that they could do nothing about it, pretty impressive or pretty easy?

Hello Kim,

That error message indicates that mysql is down or otherwise unreachable via a PHP connection. Unfortunately this is not a vBulletin issue, you should get in touch with your webhost.

There might be an addon at vBulletin.org to help you deal with your database error emails.

All the best ..
Im just about to give up, and live whit it! Any sugestions?

This is a hosting issue. You have to contact your host our change hosting providers

Hi Kevin!

And thank you for the fast reply! But what are you answer based on? I have allready, contacting my host, they say nothing is wrong, and the settings are fine!

the error message is fairly straightforward. it canot connect to your SQL server. Therefore whoever is hosting your database is having issues, and it's not related to vbulletin.

Lynne 10-20-2010 11:58 PM

It is definitely a server/hosting issue. Did you show your host the actual error or just tell him you are having problems?

I have copied and pasted several of the "database error" emails + links to vb.com & .org incl this thread to my host via their support ticket system, they allways answer very fast, but i get only what seems like standard answers in return, however i trust my webhost so far.

Btw. I noiticed, when i login to phpmyadmin, that the login offen fails, and the entry interface/frontpage look kind of diffrent, like something is missing. the dropdown at the top left is missing, but it does show up when i enter eksport to backup my files.

Lynne 10-21-2010 12:21 AM

Did your host install phpMyAdmin for you? If so, you should mention that to them also. When you say the dropdown at the top left, you mean the one with the list of databases?

Yes, the dropdown menu whit the different database?s created. The host provide phpmyadmin, but i created the db myself, and it have worked flawless for 2 years. i have created only one db for the my site as requiered. As i mentioned it offen fails when i try to login, and also it kind of stalls when i hit "send" in export, and i have to retry to backup.

I didnt mentioned the login and phpmyadmin problems to my host, as i just thought about it as a returning problem today.. maybe they read this and restart something :)

If you have a big forum, then it's getting too big and slowing down the SQL server. Which means you need to get your host to upgrade their SQL, or you need to switch hosting.

I use about 70% of the allowed amount of traffic allowed for my websolution. there´s no limit of the amount of db´s, only the size per db is limited. I mentioned that my database is 600% larger than they allow per database, that proberly more like a guideline, as they didnt response to it. They wrote in their faq´s they will contact you before you website exeed the limitation.
