Create a Registration Homepage for visitors?

I noticed a lot of social websites, dating websites etc. have a "register to see" kind of homepage. The mystic often gets me to register, and in many cases regret I wasted my time. But, it seems to work.

Is there a 4.0 mod to enable this or perhaps customizing guest privileges provides?
