is it possible to use the calendar options when posting a thread?

I want to make use of the built in calendar on vbulletin, I would also like to give users the ability to make a post of an event as well.

how could I use the existing calendar options for single event, ranged, and recurring events so that info would get posted above the thread in it's own little box when people view the thread.
