Time Limit Between Reporting Posts on Vb.org

https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2010/09/3.png

Hi, Today morning I spotted three spam posts here in quick succession and wanted to report them for moderation action. However every time I was forced to wait for a minute before reporting the subsequent spam post.

I dont think this time limit on reporting spam posts is of much use to the forum. It can cause the person reporting the post to lose interest in reporting the post and consequently may lead to the spam post being on the forum for a longer time.

I would therefore like to request that this time limit for reporting posts should be removed.

people can become frantic to report spam... i know from experience here and there...

also, someone could become frantic to report an ennemy's posts just to make trouble and bother the administration...

these are two reasons and enough to filter them...

Yeah, and usually if there are a few in quick succession it's the same spammer so reporting one of them should take care of it.

This has been covered before - its because vb uses the Email Flood Check as the limit, and Im afraid this limit isnt going to be removed. At the end of the day, waiting a few seconds really isnt going to hurt anyone (4 seconds according to your screenshot).

Most people dont go bonkers while reporting posts. That is even more unlikely in the case of a site full of admins. The Admin Zone even allows us to see the reported post thread. Most of the admins here are responsible enough to know when to report spam.

No they were three different spammers with different usernames and posts. One was peddling world of warcraft, other on phones and yet another, I cant remember. Reporting one spam with the same user name is enough. Not so with multiple users.

The SS may gave been taken after some consideration 4 seconds before but i had to wait for almost 1+1 =2 minutes for reporting the posts.

Unfortunately there is far too much spam posted on vB.org and it usually stays on the forum for quite some time before action is taken. It wont hurt anyone but the forum if such restrictions are put in place.

quite some times?!

30 minutes, maybe 2 or 3 hours... if you stress about that on THIS site, i suggest you take a rest and administer your own site the way you want and let other experiences admins from here deal with that content...

when you report a spam post, the guys usually check all forums where the spammers "can" post, and check what have been done while they were absent... this is how things run.

I do administer my site well an you will never find a single spam post there even though my site is specifically targeted by human spammers. The same spammers that target this site target my site as well but usually no spam post will ever make to a live post. If it ever does then we take care of it in seconds/minutes not hours. This spam which was posted six hours ago is still there till now. https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthrea...53#post2104953

However besides my site I do care about vb.org as well. I frequently visit this site and it pains me to see regular spam here. I do wish the staff of vb.org would do more to control this problem on vB.org.

Decreasing the limit between reported posts is not going to enable us to control spam any better. Deleting spam requires someone on Staff being on site and going through and deleting it and there just isn't someone from Staff on here 24/7.

Are you telling me that the vb.org staff is real human beings? ;)

OT: This is a very large forum, thus the staff can't do everything at any given time. I still think they do a great job.
