Question About Using the Paper Clip Insert
 

When I (or anyone else on the forum) use the paperclip insert, it changes the address of the picture which causes any wanting to view it to have to log in again.

starts out as http://www. and changes it to www.


does anyone know how come this happens? and if there is a way to correct it?

Does this happen when using a totally default style?
Create a new style with no parent:

• Styles & Templates > Style Manager > Add New Style
• Parent Style: No Parent Style
• Title: Default vBulletin
• Allow User Selection: Yes
• Save

Then browse the site using that totally default vbulletin style - do you still have the same problem?

I've seen this issue where it has the www and takes out the www from the address- the problem is with the cookie settings in admin cp... make the cookie domain: (blank).

However this also points to a bigger issue that people can access your site both with and without the "www" - this is bad for SEO because it looks like 2 different sites to search engines. You should read up on .htaccess files and use it to forward one version to the other, doesn't matter which you choose to go with so long as you are consistent. If anyone enters it the 'wrong' way htaccess will forward them to the 'right' version.

thanks for the information. You hit the nail on the head, it is the www that gets lost when using the insert not the http that I thought.
