Hi All

Just wondering if there is a way you can make a new member have to read or answer a particular thread before they could get full access to your forum. For example they would have to introduce themselves before gaining full priviliges etc. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

You could set up a promotions system where a user needs to make 1 post before getting promoted to a new usergroup. You set it so the original user group (registered users) can only post in a dedicated introductions forum... you can't be sure they won't post nonsense but it will ensure they make some sort of initial post before having access to the rest.
