Upgrade to 4.0 from 3.8.5
Hi gang - probably a stupid question but here goes. If I want to upgrade to version 4.0, do I need to pay for the full package or can I just upgrade from 3.8.5? Thanks!
|
Of course you can just upgrade from 3.8.5 to 4.0. The cost of vB4 was included in the vB3 series.
However just to be sure please post your question here for an official answer. http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/forum...ales-Questions |
Thank you sir

The upgrade price on VB4 is only $20 cheaper then the full version. You may be better off to buy a new full version of 4.0 and sell your 3.8 license... it's a risk and a headache but it could work out better in the end.
|
Does that mean I would have to buy another license then for 4.0? I can't just upgrade without paying any additional costs?

I didn't know there were any active 3.8 licesnes left. (Besides the 3 month extension they offered.) |
Thanks for the help. At the top of my admin screen it shows Vbulletin 3.8.5. Maybe I am looking at the wrong thing for the version?

You probably have a lifetime license for 3.8 so it sounds funny when I say it expires or expired because you can still run it... However the ability to download upgrades expires... if you didn't buy the "3 month" extension recently offered your license is valid but updates have surely expired. If you go to your downloads area you can still download and install whatever the latest 4.0.x version was when your license 'expired' but you will not be able to ever upgrade past that version without buying the VB4 upgrade or a new VB4 license.
