Enable/Disable Logging of IP In Posts On A Group Per Group Basis
 

I just coded this as per a request at my forum

Anyway, this mod will allow you to enable or disable the display of the IP addresses in posts on a group per group bais.

Installation: upload the includes folder to your forum root folder and then import the ip_gids.xml file inside the mod package to Plugins&Products in the Acp of your forum.

After you install it, go to your Acp->Usergroups->Usergroup Manager->{ Chose the group that you want to disable the display of ips in posts}Click Edit Usergroup} and under Post / Thread Permissions, you will see a new setting that says: Can Hide IP in Posts. By default it set to No, so the ip for that group will be displayed in posts. If you want to change that, set it to No.

This will affect the ip 's in posts from the moment of when the mod is enabled and onwards for as long as you will keep using it. The ip 's of past posts will not be affected by this

am I to understand that IP addresses will be displayed in posts if mod is enabled?

I think I am going to have fun with this mod;

allow guests and unregistered guests to post and harvest their IPs and send them to those anti spammers services

This will do the opposite. It will hide the ip addresses of that group if you enable the mod. The Ip addresses are displayed by default :)

I'm not up on the changes between vB3.8 and vB4... anyone have an impression of how simple this would be to backport before I dive in?

I get an error with vb4.0.7
If enabled only for admins, all usergroups are affected and the IP button is hidden...

Please can you check about that?
