"QUOTING" feature not working now?

a few days ago my forum was hacked for the 2nd time this year.

so i had my host do a data restoration which set the board back 24-36 hours before the hack happened.

everything else works fine but now for some reason my "QUOTING" feature isnt working,
when you quote someone it just ends up as a new post in the thread.

anyone have any ideas? suggestions? fixes?

thank you.

Please do not bump your posts for at least 24 hours. Read the forum rules regarding this.

All you did after the hack was restore your database? Did you make sure to replace all the vbulletin files with fresh ones? Have you tried disabling your modifications to see if this fixes the issue? Have you tried using a totally default style and seeing if you still have the issue?

i personally didnt do anything, the HOST COMPANY did it.

yes i have disabled modifications i had installed, still no quoting.

there's only 1 style, so there is no default style.

Well after a hack YOU (or the admin if it isn't you) should always restore the files as well in case any of them were compromised. You can download whatever version you were using from the member's area of vbulletin.com if you don't personally have a copy.

And, you may create a new totally default style by doing this:
Create a new style with no parent:
  • Styles & Templates > Style Manager > Add New Style
  • Parent Style: No Parent Style
  • Title: Default vBulletin
  • Allow User Selection: Yes
  • Save
Then browse the site using that totally default vbulletin style - do you still have the same problem?
