HELP: Layout of entire page
 

So I'm messing around with my site a lot. Especially the CMS.

I'm trying to work out which page is the overall template that defines the layout and shape of the CMS. i.e the one that pulls all the other templates together.

So far, the one I can work out that gets loaded for every page is GENERIC_SHELL.

Am I surmising this correctly or am I missing something?

To find the template to modify, do this - vboptions > General Settings > Add Template Name in HTML Comments > set to Yes . Then go back to your page and view the source code and you will see the name of the template called around your part of the code. (Sometimes the template is the one mentioned at the very top of the page source.)

But now I know which ones are which, I would like to know how they all interoperate. VB seems to be very reliant on the ORDER in which these templates are executed. Can this be missed with?

You can't mess with the order too much. Certain templates need to be rendered before the template they are in is rendered. So, if you mess with that order, then you are going to mess things up.
