Running on multiple servers?

For our vB we have 2 DBs (master/slave) and a number of web servers.

Where do we need to install sphinx?

It would seem to me we only need to run the indexing off the DB (or a new, search server) and then just ensure the new "packages" folder is on each web server for the search to run. Do any new packages/anything need to be on the web servers?
