VB demo for designers?

Hi, just wanted to know if there was some sort of demo version of VB that could be used so that I could design skins/themes for a forum without the need of buying a license myself?

Or is the only other option to work off of a client's server?

If there is a demo could you point me in the direction of one. Thanks.

Thanks

There is a 24 hour demo, but considering the cost of the software, if you're going to be doing a lot of designs you might just want to purchase it so you're not at the whim of your clients.

Using the official vB demo setup wouldn't help much in your case. If you're serious about designing vB skins, you should consider purchasing a vB license as a startup investment. Run it locally using a tool like XAMPP or WAMP to speed up the development process, and also set up a live forum to serve as a skins showcase for your potential customers.

That's what I'd do.

That's exactly how I have it set up, with XAMPP. The installation instruction on that are a touch on the vague side, but that's probably only the case because it didn't precisely describe what the forum root is, but in hindsight, should have figured it out right away myself. Other than that, XAMPP is ideal for locally hosting the software on your workstation.

Forum root would be? I only ask because I have never set it up and would be interested. Your experience might save a n00b like me a lot of headache. Thanks.

That is the /upload directory directly under the XAMPP directory on wherever you have that installed under.

/xampp/upload

Please use 1 of the support forums for technical questions. This should not be discussed in a Pre-Sales forum.
