Cometchat
 

I was thinking about buying cometchat but i am looking for advice, is it worth it? have there been any problems associated with it?

I like to know too?

I've worked on a few forums that had cometchat installed.

I'm not sure if it's worth it, especially since vbulletin already has free chat mods but it does work and without errors from what I've seen.

I had nothing but problems trying to install comet chat and their support is notoriously bad. I ended up giving up on it.

I was also warned that installing chat software like that may get your site flagged and blocked in some work-place web filters that would otherwise allow forums.

Alright, I went ahead and got it because of all the reviews that were so positive on here.:) J/K Well I installed in exactly like advertised 15 min.. It was so easy and my members are liking it already..

I have not had an issue yet, that I did not find on the site.

I just installed it myself too, real quick and works but the Games tab has no games at all on it. I have enabled the 2 games module/plugins but there are still no games..

Apart from that it seems to be OK, I bought the $49 version.

Looks like their support sucks. Posted a ticket and asked on their forum but no reply.....

A small update......

They want FTP access to my server to investigate the problem despite me giving them the full vbulletin folder that the webiste is running from.

How could anyone give them FTP access????

Final word on this.

Once they did respond they were great, communication was frequent and I hadn't realised that I could set up a special FTP account so they could only access the chat folder that they needed access to.

Once they had got in they quickly put things right and I now have all the games as advertised. So I am very happy with CometChat to date.

I purchased cometchat but after a few months of member complaints I uninstalled it due to performance issues and if you have members using older machines they will lock up everytime cometchat refreshes in the background.
