deactivating users
Hi, i have some users with wrong/fake mail address, and i wonder if there is any way to "disable" these users to a state where they can set their right email and then be able to use the site again
|
Hmm not sure but you can make sure
Code:
Verify Email address in Registration Admincp >> Settings >> options >> User Registration Options Verify Email address in Registration = Yes |
yeah, i was using that, but i prefer open registration, its easier for the users ;)
i think i will have to ban them :( |

all they have to do is click one link in the email and your problems are no more |
yeah, you are right, but it depends on the target/level of your users, i have some really not friendly with technology :P

We really don't want any members that are too stupid to use email verification. That's only the first intelligence test they have to pass; then they must answer our simple Q&A.
But over the years emails change. We've got a slew of members with bad email addys but what can you do? Yes, maybe a mod that would force people to re-verify email before participating. |
is not a bad idea...
maybe a mod that: after X time will put a notice to members to "please check and click the link on your mail to re verify, or CHANGE your mail address" it this does not happen in X time the account is banned or something |
Thing is, we really don't want to ban or delete anyone. We're just tired of dealing with bounced emails.
|
Usually we just Ban those accounts. Dont delete them as if they do find their activation email in their spam folder, or whatever the reason was, you will want to be able to restore their acount.
