Meebo Bar (Updated)
 

Hello all I'm restating hellbomb's mod and updating it a little. Most of the credit goes to him and a little bit to me for helping you guys understand.

What is Meebo?
Meebo is a social bar that allows you to connect to your friends using multiple Networks. Ex) Facebook, AIM, twitter, etc...

How to install Meboo on vBulletin:

1. You have to sign up on http://bar.meebo.com/
2. Click Get it now.
3. Fill out the "Sign Up For Meebo Bar" area
4. Now fill out your site info.
5. They'll bring you to a page asking what kind of site you have click the last option "I host my own blog / site or use a different blog platform"
6. Than you'll see codes Open a new tab and Go to your site.
7. AdminCP>Styles and templates>Search in templates
8. Put "footer" in search box. Click "Search titles only" to yes
9. Click the last option that says "footer"
10. Now go back to the meebo page with all the codes
    
11. Copy the first code and paste it all the way at the bottom
    
12. Take the 2nd code (which is the smallest code out of the two) and paste it below the first code
    
13. Click Save and BOOM there you go, your site now has a Social network bar A.K.A Meebo.
14. After Meebo is on your site you could now edit it from Meebo just look around to change some settings.
    

installed, it looks good, but it doesn't always connect, it has some difficulty at times, does this draw any resources from the server or does meebo host these features?

Can this be limited by usergroup?

Nice idea, however it doubled my page load time from 2 secs -> 4.5 secs, so uninstalled, shame!

Yep once upon a time I too had this installed for a maximum of 10 minutes. Page load time doubled and that was at its minimum.

Not only that it doesn't load up sometimes and putting chatting things on forums like this open to everyone allows for mass spam + advertising for competitors to post on your site for free. I'm not saying this is a bad mod, Im saying Meebo is a bad piece of software for forums.
