Too Much Spam to Moderate
 

Hi, I'm pretty sure there must be a hack like this, but I can't find it...

We have lots of spam each day, and most of it goes into "moderation" right away... so that's good, but it's a real hassle to have to review 100 spam posts in moderation each day...

Yet I KNOW that anyone that uses a word like "viagra" has NO BUSINESS on my forum... it's a gaming forum, and nobody is EVER going to say that unless they are spamming.

So I want to have a list of words that just go to INSTANT DELETE instead of MODERATION... so if you use a word that has absolutely no place at the forum like that, then it just instantly is deleted (and hopefully the user can be automatically banned).

Can someone please point me in the right direction?

Are you really having trouble with automated spam bots? With a good registration page (human authenticators/captchas/a question only humans can answer), you should be able to stop that.

In fact, I wouldn't bother with any anti-spam modification until you stop automated spambots at the point of registration.

unfortunateley that apears not to be true. Spammers are able to overcome that extra manualy filled-in field. HOW? I do not know yet. I just created an issue in the bugtracker. For me this will be a showstopper. Fed up with these lowlive creeps...

Does anybody know the product Bad Behaviour? Looked interesting but vBulletin is not standard supported. Wordpress is. Why?

I think the best thing you should do is install vbStopForumSpam (Mod 222536). It finds them all.
It's the best mod I've ever installed.

the best thing is to stop spam 100% is that all new members are required post moderation and after 3-5 approved post a user promotion transfers them into a regular usergroup or whatever u name it and use re-captcha in the registration form

Unfortunately it has an unacceptably high rate of false positives (blocking legit users) for my tastes.

I agree with ^ saying that you should install vbstopforumspam. How do you know the spammers aren't sending PMs to your users? Stop em from signing up and then go through and delete/ban all of the other users after deleting their PMs they sent already...
