Upgrade too vb4 from only vb3 mysql backup
Hi, I've got an old mysql backup made via the admin cp ov vb on version 3.7.2 and was wondering if I could use this on a fresh install of a VB4 installation or how I would go about it if i were to upgrade to vb4?
thanks. |
Yes this is possible.
|
ah, good, now my second question would be how as i've heard there is no backup/restore feature anymore in vb4??
|
you can backup or restore any database driven website with phpmyadmin or via SSH
|
so if i do a backup from 3.7 via phpmyadmin.
install fresh copy of vb4 restore the backup of the 3.7 onto the vb4 database it should all be good??? |
I would just do an upgrade on the 3.7 db
just upload everything for 4.0, post the config file at your 3.7 db, then run the install/upgrade.php file to update the DB to 4.x |
hmmm okay bad times.
i set the config on the vb4 setup to the 3.7 db. ran all billion of the updates.. eventually i got to the final bit. however major error times... when i try to login i get. Quote:

yeah running vb in xamp usually does not good , seen it too many times.
it is best to run on live server and do the update ...i |
hmm i was only doing it there for testing purpose before running on a live site but i think i got it sorted, i was stupid enough not to disable the plugins before the update. god knows what will happen when i re-enable them?
|
i know for a fact most plugins for 3 will not work on four and error out cause of how it is coded ... so i would look for updates on them
